2001 President's Report Welcome to the Michigan Family Support Council's 19th Training Conference, held here in Petoskey, Michigan at the beautiful Boyne Highlands Resort. Although I've been here before, it's different. The cast and crew are new yet seasoned. This year our Board faced many new challenges. We lost several very instrumental board members, through career changes, staff shortages, etc. The board had many gaps to fill, and I must say they have done an excellent job. If it were not for the talented board of directors, and volunteers, this training conference would not have happened. As recent as August 11, 2001, I was able to attend the National Child Support Conference in New York City, and in my opinion, our Association's conference measures up in both content and presentation equal to what was provided there. We may not have the same funding and resources as they do, but I believe we make up for it in talent and dedication. That is a credit to the members who attend our conferences and to the board who searches for outstanding presenters. This conference is a direct result of the ongoing support we receive from the Office of Child Support, Prosecuting Attorneys and the Friends of the Court throughout Michigan. To all of you, thank you. It is my belief that the next few days of training will enhance your ability to perform your assigned tasks by increasing your knowledge and confidence. With this in mind, I hope that when you leave, you have benefited from the knowledge passed on to you and have met and established contact with other professionals who work in related fields with whom you can share problems and solutions. On behalf of the Board of Directors and myself, than you for attending and participating. Frank A. Russell / President |
